Athletic Training Students

SENIORS
Jason Coles

I grew up in the small town of Meade, Kansas where I first became interested in Athletic Training. As a sophomore attending Meade High School I attended a one week Athletic Training seminar where I learned the basics of taping and injuries. As a senior in the Sterling College Athletic Training program I will be working with football as well as men’s basketball. In my time at Sterling College I have worked with baseball, football, volleyball, and basketball. After graduation from Sterling College I plan to attend Graduate school at Ohio University to earn a masters degree in Athletic Training.
Jonathon Lovercamp (J-Love)

I am a senior here at Sterling College. I am a student in the Athletic Training Program. After graduating, I plan to go and continue with my education at the masters level. I really love the small town atmosphere and community that Sterling offers. I know that the relationships that I have built with others will carry on after I leave this place.

I'm a senior in the athletic training program and I've come a long way since my junior year of high school when I had only a vague notion of what sports medicine was (and had never even heard of athletic training). Growing up, I had an interest in medicine and I really enjoyed sports (everything from gymnastics and track to volleyball and soccer) so athletic training seemed like a great way to combine those. I came to Sterling to play volleyball, but the athletic training program is definitely what kept me here all four years. It's great to look back and realize that the freshman classmates I hardly knew have now become some of my closest friends. Together, we've made it through countless hours of driving each other nuts in the athletic training room and classroom, studying sessions (with not always a lot of studying), plenty of laughter, and even a few tears. I am proud to say that we have one of the best programs around and I am privileged to be a part of it! When I graduate, I plan to use my degree in Athletic Training to gain experience and possibly pursue graduate school to become a physician assistant.
Jeannie Wallenberg

I am from the great place of Springfield, Missouri. Athletic Training is a great fit for me because I love sports and medicine. I have been in sports for the greater part of my 21 years of life. I am a senior in the Athletic Training program and these past years have been some of the greatest times in my life. Our Athletic Training program is more of a family and I love this about us. When I graduate I will mostly miss the bond that my fellow seniors and I have. We have all been through a lot and they have been my best friends. I love you guys! Upon graduation my plan is to go back to Springfield and find a job.
