Bruce Boyd
Bruce Boyd, Instructor of Strings and Guitar, holds a Masters degree in String Pedagogy from the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music. He is in his twenty-sixth year as a string teacher in the Hutchinson Public Schools working at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. As a violist he has played with the Friends University Orchestra, the Wichita Metropolitan Summer Orchestra, and the Newton Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he has played for many area musicals and oratorios and has performed with the Hutchinson Symphony for twenty-two seasons.
Bruce is a fourteen year member of the Rhapsody String Quartet and has been a string coach for the Hutchinson Regional Youth Symphony for sixteen years. He has done extensive clinic and adjudication work around the state of Kansas and served ten years on the Kansas American String Teacher's Association Board, two of them as president ('92 - '94). He is now President elect and will begin another term as ASTA President in 2008. Bruce has served the Kansas State Department of Education on Committees for State Music Standards, the State Music Curriculum Framework and State Music Assessments.
