Why I’m Here

Words. Before anything else existed, there were words. “Before the world was created, the Word already existed; he was with God, and he was the same as God.” (John 1.1 TEV) Whether creatively and divinely drawn or desturctively strewn, words have immense potential. Words have always fascinated me whether words in English, Spanish, Greek or Hebrew, or even Latin. Ancients believed in the creative power of words and we’d do well to revive that respect, because before anything comes into being, it must first be a word. For me, Sterling College is the perfect place to foster the proper respect for words, develop the creative potential of words and know the Word that empowers all good writing and speech, the still living Word who is the Christ. I wish all who enter the gates of Sterling and particularly the doors of learning in the Language Literature Department to have a positively powerful experience with words and the Word.
